Duncan Mac-Vicar’s Summary

After finishing my Engineering studies and doing some research in the area of Software Architecture, I immortalized a spanish/chilean word as the name of one of the most famous instant messaging clients on the Linux world and enjoyed years of software development with the amazing KDE community.

I could not resist multiculturalism and the idea of improving my english and german while working with Linux on a daily basis, so I paid a flight by doing I.T. consulting to the retail sector and development lessons to entrepreneurs and showed up months after in Germany with a bag, a laptop and a guitar, ready to start new challenges.

Since then I have worked for Novell as a developer and team lead in the area of systems management on SUSE Linux.

I have successfully worked in a diverse set of complex projects both as a Developer and Team lead, learning from amazing people, coaching people and contributing with fresh ideas and experience in different technologies and development processes. Learning whatever is needed to do a better job overnight.
